Lessons Learned from Fall 2024 Health Plan Conferences
Notes From the Field
During the Fall 2024 conference season, four members of the VSP® Vision Care Government Market Solutions (GMS) team traveled more than 25,000 miles to attend eight different health plan industry conferences. Together, these team members talked with close to 100 Medicare Advantage and Medicaid health plan executives from across the country.
In each of our discussions with our partners, the GMS team listened carefully and celebrated the innovative ways health plans are leveraging vision benefits and claims data to improve health for their members.
We also heard about the challenges they face in administering their Medicare Advantage and Medicaid vision benefits. These challenges include regulatory compliance, network access, and managing competitive vision benefit packages.
Throughout all of these conversations, we were reminded of the important role that VSP plays as a partner in making government health plans work better for everyone. For each of the more than 125 managed care plans for whom we are the preferred vision partner, we tailor benefits solutions that:
- Help close gaps in care in order to support customers in offering compliant vision benefits that achieve higher clinical quality and customer satisfaction scores.
- Deliver networks that are aligned with Medicare Advantage and Medicaid requirements, and offer more convenience and choice for members.

Professional conferences offer valuable opportunities to meet with health plan partners and learn how changes in the market might be impacting plans. They also remind us that our focus on people, not profits, is a big part of the reason why we consistently deliver quality care for our customers and the members they serve.
